About this image

Dusty Mustering on Queensland Grasslands A stockwoman astride a chestnut horse guides a herd of rich reddish-brown Brahman cattle across a sun-baked paddock in rural Queensland. Wearing a wide-brimmed light-colored akubra and a blue long-sleeved work shirt, she carefully stock managers the cattle through sparse grasslands dotted with scattered gum trees. The dry, golden-brown landscape stretches to a distant treeline under a clear azure sky, capturing the quintessential Australian pastoral scene of cattle mustering. Her horse moves with controlled precision, tail swishing, as the herd moves steadily forward - a testament to the skill and patience required in managing livestock across vast agricultural landscapes. The image embodies the resilience of Australian cattle farming, where stockwomen and stockmen play a critical role in managing herds across challenging terrain. Every element speaks to the hard work, skill, and connection to land that defines agricultural life in the Australian outback.
