Driven to live life to the full

Alice Mabin is a New Zealand-born photographer and entrepreneur who has lived an extraordinary life marked by resilience and adventure. After a near-fatal horseback riding accident at age 15, she pursued various careers—from medical student to high country shepherd—before a motorbike accident forced her to reinvent herself again. She eventually discovered photography and journalism as her calling, leveraging her agricultural background to identify a market need among livestock producers who lacked quality marketing materials.

Mabin gained international recognition for documenting a historic 2,000-kilometer cattle drive across Australia in 2013, following 18,000 head of cattle through the red dust. She self-published her experiences in The Drover, which became an unexpected bestseller with 16,000 copies sold and four Australian bestseller awards. Her entrepreneurial success earned her the 2015 Asia Pacific Entrepreneur of the Year title, and she continues creating content from a custom-built trailer while working on her next book, Australia On The Back of A Truck.
